❗️Blocker Beware

To modify the Organization's Demand Channel Defaults, navigate to the Monetization Tab and the Demand Channel Defaults subtab.

Modal showing Publication status for an Organization's Demand Channel

Within each demand channel's row, there is a Publications modal with three fields:

  • Joined: the number of publications that have joined the given demand channel.

  • Default Settings: the number of opted-in publications using the Organization's default settings

  • Custom Settings: the number of opted-in publications ignoring the Organization's default settings

❗️Use caution when using Demand Channel Defaults

Blocks made via the Demand Channel Defaults interface apply to all Publications that are using the Organization's default settings. For more granular blocks, use Publication-specific demand channel settings.

Publication-specific demand channel settings are located under
Monetization --> Publication --> Demand Channels

Once you've navigated to either the Organization or Publication level and selected a demand channel to edit, the UI is nearly identical. The following screenshot shows the key difference.

Publication-level Setting to Override Organization Defaults

If a Publication should have custom settings and not mirror the Organization defaults, the override box should be checked. If unchecked, all other settings will be unclickable and reflect the Organization defaults.

📘One Channel at a Time

Keep in mind that any entities blocked within this screen will only apply to that specific demand channel. If an entity is present in other channels, they may still have access to your inventory there. Be sure that blocks are put in place as widely or narrowly as intended.

Blocking Buying Organizations

Some demand channels allow advertisers/agencies that work directly with Nativo to buy ad space. Within Nativo, these agencies are referred to as Buying Organizations. If you wish to make your inventory unavailable to specific Buying Organizations, block it with the steps illustrated in this screenshot.

  2. Select "Block".

  3. Repeat 1-2 for as many buyers as desired.

There isn't a limit on how many buyers may be blocked, but eliminating several or even a few active buyers may have a significant impact on revenue for that demand channel.

Blocking Demand Providers

Demand Providers act as the route by which outside agencies can purchase ad space programmatically. If you wish to make your inventory unavailable to all agencies using a specific Demand Provider, block that single provider with the steps illustrated in this screenshot.

Blocking Geographic Regions

Should you wish to ensure that only users of your website within certain geographic regions receive ads for a specific demand channel, use the Geographic Targeting setting. Selecting the "allow" option and then a list of countries will build a Geographic whitelist. Alternatively, selecting the "block" option will prevent users in any specified countries from seeing ads. These steps are illustrated in the following screenshot.

For example, if your website has users in the United States, The United Kingdom, and Mexico, but only users in the United States should receive ads, there are two ways to specify this.

  • Whitelist: Select the "allow" option in step 2 and enter "United States" into the text field

🚧Blocking Regions

There isn't a limit on how many regions may be blocked, but eliminating even a few high-volume regions may have a significant impact on revenue for that demand channel.

Blocking Advertisers

Obtaining Advertiser Information from a Live Ad

  • When a client or user views a publication and indicates that they have viewed an ad deemed inappropriate or offensive, their report should include a screenshot.

  • If a screenshot was not included, it's best to request one be submitted if possible.

  • Take note of the byline, "by Coolimba" in the below example. A complete spelling of the advertiser byline is required for blocking, even if a screenshot was not available. The byline is the best indicator of an ad's advertiser.

  • Use this advertiser information, the site/placement in which the ad appeared, and date the ad appeared to locate the advertiser within Nativo's Admin Reporting UI.

👍Narrowing the Scope

Use filters along the top of a report to specify dates, inventory, or demand channel which may help to locate a specific advertiser. Note that the sample image uses the Demand Channel option on the left to add that column to report, showing that metric for each advertiser.

The domains of advertisers that should be blocked from serving ads within a demand channel may be entered as shown in the screenshot below. Remember that blocking an advertiser domain in a single demand channel will only affect that channel.

1305

Blocking an Advertiser

  1. Once an advertiser's domain and Demand Channel has been identified, navigate to the Advanced tab for that Demand Channel's settings page.

  2. Enter the domain in the "Advertiser Domains" field, making sure that proper spelling and punctuation are used.

  3. Click "Save"!

📘Note

Any entities which are blocked within a demand channel can be easily un-blocked later if there was a mistake or they should instead be allowed access.

🚧Blocking Advertisers

There isn't a limit on how many advertisers may be blocked, but eliminating even a few active advertisers may have a significant impact on revenue for that demand channel.

Confirming What Has Been Blocked

These Demand Channel Settings pages can also be used for quick reference information to easily observe what entities are actively blocked and are restricted from serving on your inventory. If an entity is grayed out or a domain is listed, then it is blocked.
