General Stories Capabilities
1. What is Stories?
Stories is a visual image and video ad execution that inspires engagement and emotion with an immersive, full-screen experience designed for today’s mobile user.
2. What are the benefits of Stories for brands and advertisers?
Stories delivers a high-engaging native ad format to meet today’s user content consumption behaviors. Built for mobile audiences with a full-screen user experience, Stories brings the familiar execution from social channels to the open web, and offers a non-obtrusive experience in feed on publisher mobile web. This format supports rich media, videos, images and .gifs for a highly visual experience, and drives engagement with an opt-in user experience.
3. How do Stories campaigns work?
Stories ads appear as standard Nativo In-Feed Units on publisher mobile web pages. Within the In-feed Unit, the user sees an indicator at the top-left corner of the preview image denoting the ad unit as a Stories experience. After the user clicks on the In-Feed Unit, the story opens as a full-screen overlay. Each frame of the Story auto-advances - 6 seconds for images, full length for video. Once complete, the ad stops on the last frame and the user can close the Stories ad to return to publisher content.
Within the Stories experience, the user can navigate the story in the way they’re already used to on social media, by tapping on the left and right sides of the screen. In addition, a CTA helps drive traffic to an external URL (e.g. advertiser site). Learn more about how Stories work.
4. Do Stories require user opt-in?
Yes, users must click to engage with Stories.
5. Is a new integration required to support this ad format?
No new integration is needed. The Stories ad format can be run via any of your mobile placements in rotation with your other ad formats.
6. Do Stories run in mobile apps?
Yes, Stories is an available ad unit for the mobile app.
Getting Started with Stories
1. Where in the Nativo Ad Platform do I build my Stories campaign?
Stories creatives can be created in the Creative Library, which serves as the centralized location for all creatives within the Nativo Ad Platform. Your Campaign and Budget will be set up separately, and can be created from the Campaign Dashboard. Learn more about setting up your creatives.
2. Do Stories support video and images?
Yes, Stories supports images, videos, and GIFs or a combination of these assets. Each image, video, or GIF is a separate slide. The default for video within Stories is sound off. The maximum and minimum length for Stories video assets are as follows:
Video Length Minimum: 1 second.
Video Length Maximum: none.
3. Are the CTAs on each slide customizable?
Yes. The max character limit is 12 characters, and each slide can have its own CTA that drives users to a different URL. Stories cannot click out to a Nativo Content Landing Page at this time.
4. How do I add copy to my Stories execution? Do I need to add it to the image itself?
You can add copy to your Stories execution using the Description field on the Content tab of the Creative Editor within the Nativo Ad Platform. You do not need to add it to the image itself.
5. The Sample In-Feed Unit looks like a mobile, vertical format. Will this format still match our ad placements?
The Sample In-Feed Unit is a quick visual guide, and is not specific to any of your existing placements. Stories executions are initiated upon click of the In-Feed Unit within your newsfeed.
6. How do I publish my Stories creative to an existing campaign?
To publish a Stories creative to an existing campaign, navigate to the Published Ads tab of the Creative Editor. From here, select the campaign and budget you’d like to publish your ad to. When you’re done, click “Publish” to publish your creative to your desired campaign.
Stories Best Practices
1. What types of assets are recommended?
The default asset requirement/recommendation for Stories is vertical 9:16 assets, but the unit is flexible and accommodates other dimensions, orientations, and sizes with smart cropping. Assets that don’t fill the screen on a given device will be resized with the empty space filled in with black, to keep the focus on the asset. Learn more about Stories creative specs.
2. Can we repurpose existing brand social assets?
Yes, you can repurpose the raw assets that brands use on social media.
3. How do I know what opportunities are a good fit for a Stories campaign?
Stories work best for brands that want to communicate with visual, 100% share of voice content experiences. Here are a few examples to get you started:
Leverage Stories for brands that require more visual experiences than text (e.g. CPG versus B2B), and short-form versus long-form content.
Suggest extending brand social media programs (especially Instagram and TikTok campaigns) to your available inventory.
Repurpose existing brand image and video resources with compelling language.
Use Stories for new consumer product launches for industries like tech, retail, CPG, and entertainment.
Tourism brands can leverage Stories to show locations, hotels, and experiences.
Automotive brands can use Stories to showcase models and lifestyle.
Finance brands can run Stories campaigns to deliver tips & tricks.
Stories Reporting
1. Where can I find Stories reporting?
Stories reporting is nested under the Campaign it’s associated with and can be found on the Reporting tab of the Nativo Ad Platform.
